Physical Therapist Assistants who performed patient related treatment for a board certified orthopedic physician or physiatrist shall be under the general supervision of a Physical Therapist, direct supervision is not require. 6. Who may supervise Physical Therapist Assistants?

The only person who is permitted to supervise a Physical Therapist Assistant is a Physical Therapist. Chapter 486 Section 486.021

7. What are the supervision requirements of a PTA in an acute setting vs. a non-acute setting?
The Physical Therapist Assistant should no provide services to patient for an acute setting such as inpatient or hospital unless a Physical Therapist is present for direct supervision.
